What is it that you need most at this moment. Do you need to go to the store and get what you need for the next meal to be just right? Do you need gas in the car? Is there some paperwork you must deliver to the attorney or must you make another trip to the doctor? The grass needs cutting and the hinges on that door need to be tightened. The pet's bedding needs washing and you must return that letter to the IRS. The oil in the car needs changing and it needs new tires. I must call my friend....
So many things need to be done that it makes us crazy. Home is where the heart is. Is there peace at home? In your heart is there real peace. I'm not talking about the physical home where we hang our robe on the back of the closet door.
Define home. I put that saying 'Home is where the heart is/Bible verse' in the search bar just to see what would come up and here it is:
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:21
The believer has but one home and that is the kingdom of God. To put it in a more personal sense, the heart of Jesus is our home.
Some of us have left home to roam around and get life done. You know, work, raise a family, save and then retire and then come home before we die. With Jesus, we can always go home. But why would we spend all that time living the life we are expected to live on this earth and never return home? Real home is real peace.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Away from home there is worry and anxiety. Away from home there is no peace in the middle of all that the world throws at us. While we are so busy building our 'castles' which are at very best temporary, do we ever return home?
It is no wonder that as much of our nation is on antidepressant drugs and spend so much time with counselors, life coaches, and therapists-they are never home.
What Biblical proof do I have that Jesus is our home? Paul wrote:
"For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'"Acts 17:28
Do you live in Jesus? If not, it is not life complete. If you have walked away, come home. Confess and it is all wiped away.
Do you move in Jesus? How is that? Do we commit each day to following Him no matter the cost? If not, come home and learn how to move freely without worry and anxiety.
If you have left home, the being people identify as you is not the real you. Being you can only truly happen in Jesus.
Come home to Jesus and all the other things or stuff you need is there waiting for you to use the way God leads.
Matthew 6:33 "What you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what he wants you to do. Then he will give you all these other things you need." Easy-to-Read Version
Come home to Jesus.
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Forgive me for leaving-turning my back and walking into the world without you. Thank you for your mercy and patience and forgiveness.
