Good morning, Lord
Verse of the Day: Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Memory verse: Romans 8:32 ►He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
Today's reading: 1 SAMUEL 4-6 LUKE 9:1-17
Children's Rights
What are the rights of children? Parents should answer that children have the right to be loved and feel safe. Children should have all they need to accomplish all they need to accomplish.
Good parents make sure that children learn a good work ethic with regards to school work and education and develope good habits and life skills.
There is much more to bringing up children but we must turn our attention to ourselves as children of our almighty God.
Matthew 18:3 And said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
What rights do we have s a child of God in Christ?
John 1:12 ►Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the 'right' to become children of God—
The Greek here for 'right' is privilege. Privilege means 'benefit granted to or enjoyed by an individual'.
So, becoming 'a child of God' means for us 'a benefit granted to us who have received Him by the power of God in Christ Jesus.
Romans 6:22 ►But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
In Christ, we become (willing) servant children. The benefit we reap leads to holiness and results in eternal life. Reaping means we have much work to do. Reaping means seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
Do we have rights as children of God? I say no. Rights, to me, means something that I deserve. I deserve the wrath of God, Ephesians 2, but because of Jesus I have the benefit of being called a child of God. I now am afforded the blessing of being able to take up my cross, or die to self and sin each day, and labor in love following Christ Jesus.
We are all blessed to be empowered to walk in the light, 1 John 1:5-7, and walk in the Spirit, Galatians 5:16-18.
We have commands to follow from our Lord-commands that only make us better for serving in His kingdom. We have the blessings of knowing He loves us completely and nothing can separate us from that love(Romans 8:38).
We are children who are blessed among all men.
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Forgive me for feeling entitled. I am your servant and am blessed for that alone. Grant me Your peace to serve with humility and joy.
Patient and Kind God,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
