Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)

I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Verse of the day: “Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9–11)

Today’s reading: Amos 7-9 Revelation 8

Children of Encouragement

During this season of the year I am always taken back to what the Angel and the heavenly hosts sang in Luke 2:

13 “Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,    and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

In my curiosity I searched the web for ‘not including Jesus, most peaceful characters in the Bible’. A large list of old testament names came up but in this particular search, there was only one new testament name-a man named :

“Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas” (which means “son of encouragement”), Acts 4:36

How many of us actually ‘encourage’? If we are sons of the living God(Romans 9:26) and we are children of encouragement, that must mean God is ‘encouragement’.

God is our giver of all good and perfect gifts(James 1:17). God in Christ is our source of ‘encouragement energy’.

Some people have what seems to be a natural sense to encourage. But being an encourager is a choice.

Divine encouragement energy must be tapped into by seeking God. Our own energy will exhaust and dry up.

We must, again, stop and tell God we want to be a ‘child of encouragement. But can our behavior change from years of conditioning? That is what Jesus came for-to set the captives free(Luke 4:18).

Tell God you want to be free and be one of His children of encouragement so you can start to lift folks up like never before.

...because He loves us, He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

Your kingdom come, your will be done in my heart as it is in Heaven. Give me what You know I need today. Forgive me for not seeking Your leading in all things. Lead me away from evil.

God of encouragement,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
