Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, load me with desire to seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Hold my attention constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: 1 John 1:8–9
8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the
truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
Verse of the day- Ephesians 6:4
4 “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”
Today’s reading: Esther 9-10 Acts 7:1-21
Breadth and Depth, part 1
One thing that I have observed in this digital age that is blatantly obvious: we have all the time we need to get as much from God’s word as we can.
This will be met with much argument. But ‘employed’(busy people) adults spend an average of over 3.5 hours per day on their phones on ‘non-work’ activities. In 1980, folks spent an average of 20-45 minutes a day reading a newspaper and that says nothing of the time they spent watching news on TV. World and local news can be captured in about 30 minutes. So we can say that we waste 3 hours a day on useless media.
So what you ask?
The depth of our understanding of God’s word equals time spent seeking God in His word and prayer and meditation-listening to His Spirit of Truth.
Our lives are rivers given to us by God. To change the flow of a river, it takes a long time. It took over 18 years to plan and complete the Aswan High dam on the Nile river.
Right now, most of us are floating a river on inner-tubes tied together with others by the ‘web’-inebriated by the digital ‘cool-aid’ we drink from the cooler tied between us-open prey to any danger beneath…
Our challenge today is to ask God what He wants for us. Ask God to help you make a plan of growth so you can know His real ‘river of living waters’ that flows from you.
John 7:38, 39- “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. “
Jesus has been glorified and we have received the Holy Spirit.
Tell God you are sorry for wasting time floating the wrong river and you want a plan for the river flowing from you.
Small steps-enough small steps will lead anywhere God wants you to be.
...because He loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
I want You to be everything to me. I want to know as much as I can about Your kingdom. Increase my desire for deeper faith in You. Forgive me for my failure to seek You. Lead me away from temptations of this world.
Father of ultimate spiritual wisdom,
In the name of Christ my Lord,
Amen
