Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Romans 4:4-5 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. 5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,

Memory verse: Romans 12:1: Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

Today's reading: PROVERBS 22-24 2 CORINTHIANS 8

Divine Bible Sense

The old folks talked about people who had 'good sense'. Once in a while you could hear one of them say, "...that guy ain't got no sense".

Common sense was something that was imprinted on some as a child and some learned 'common sense'.

Proverbs 19:8 The person who gets wisdom is good to himself. And the one who has understanding will succeed.

Some seemed to never have any sense. These folks seemed to always blame someone else for their decisions.

Proverbs 19:3 3 A person’s own foolishness ruins his life.

But in his mind he blames the Lord for it.

It is all there in The Book-the Bible-God's word. God's word is His 'common sense'. It is common to Him. It is not common to the natural mind of man. This is another reason for prayer and meditation on God's word and for reading God's word consistently.

Proverbs 19: 16 Whoever obeys the commands protects his life.

:20 Listen to advice and accept correction.

Then in the end you will be wise.

God knows what we need to learn. We look at children as they grow and we see their mistakes and want to help them get it right but some just won't seem to listen. Does that sound vaguely familiar?

We are all like that at some point. God must look at us and grieve over our ignorance and hard heads, called 'stiff necks' in the scripture.

We make plans and they fail and God"s word has already said:

Proverbs 19:21 People can make many different plans.

But only the Lord’s plan will happen.

Some of us think we can live like the devil and blame God for the consequences.

23 Those who respect the Lord will live

and be content, unbothered by trouble.

(This, of course, speaks of trouble we bring on by our own sin.)

Why is it so important to follow God consistently?

Proverbs 19:27 Don’t stop listening to correction, my child.

If you do, you will not obey what you have already learned.

These passages are from just Proverbs 19. These are all the common, but divine, sense of God-the way God's mind thinks all the time-this wisdom is wherever God is honored because these folks are conscious of the Holy Spirit-our constant companion and counselor.

Divine Bible sense is really not hard to come by-but-if we are not surrendered to God-if we have not taken up our cross this day while it is called today-we will not have God's power to obey His wisdom. We cannot do it on our own.

1 Corinthians 2:16 tells us we have the mind of Christ. That is such a great responsibility. The mind of Christ will not be accessible to the mind that is not surrendered. It simply will not happen. The heart that is not clean cannot use the mind of Christ. The unforgiving person will not know the mind of Christ. The person who does not walk humbly before God under His hand will not have access to 'God's divine sense'.

Proverbs 4:5-9

International Children’s Bible

5 Get wisdom and understanding.

Don’t forget or ignore my words.

6 Use wisdom, and it will take care of you.

Love wisdom, and it will keep you safe.

7 Wisdom is the most important thing. So get wisdom.

If it costs everything you have, get understanding.

Take up your cross and follow Him...

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me, patient Father for ignoring Your truth. Teach me Your divine wisdom.

Father of all wisdom and truth,

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
