Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”

Verse of the day: Psalm 103:17-18

17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him,    and his righteousness to children's children,18 to those who keep his covenant    and remember to do his commandments.

Believe In Me

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” (John 14:1)

“Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.” (John 14:11)

How do you believe in someone who has come to save you?

You are out in deep water and you have become exhausted. The life guard reaches you and you are frantic and fighting for air and your thrashing almost ends you both but the lifeguard finally convinces you to trust Him and you both reach safety.

Why does Jesus command us to believe in Him? We are in a desperate situation. Jesus is the only one who can save us.

Without Christ, we all deserve God’s wrath.(Ephesians 2:3)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned; but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. . . . Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. (John 3:16–18, 36)

Notice the words condemn, perish, wrath (of God). All these we deserve and are destined for without Christ but,

“...the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:4–6)

Believing in Jesus is more than believing about Jesus. We must give up the fight and trust in him.

The problem we have is that we continue to fight-for what-the right to be who we want to be in this world-what we want to have in this world? This, again, is sin living in us.

Believing in Jesus means becoming like Jesus is more important than becoming what the world says we should become.

God intends for us to become like Jesus in Romans 8:29. Believing in Jesus means trusting God to not just save you but to make you like Jesus.

The life guard scenario shows you being saved from ‘killing water’.

Jesus gives us ‘living water’. In John 7:37-39, Jesus says He gives the one who believes in Him living water-the Holy Spirit.

So believing in Jesus is more than knowing about Jesus. It is an everyday life of taking up our cross-investing our lives in Him(Luke 9:23), becoming like Jesus(Romans 8:29), and loving Him with all we are(Matthew 22:37-39), obediently following Him(John 10:27) and eagerly waiting for him. (Hebrews 9:28)

Confess that your are not where you need to be. Ask Him to show you.

...because He loves us...He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

Your name is so much higher that what I can say. Let me know Your greatness in Your kingdom. Give me desire for looking forward to Your returning. Lead me away from earthly ignorance.

Great Father,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
