Being Here

Good morning, Lord
Verse of the Day: Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel. (2 Timothy 2:8)
Memory verse: Romans 8:32 ►He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
Today's reading: 1 SAMUEL 10-12 LUKE 9:37-62
Being Here
In Luke 9:28-33 we read what we call the 'Mount of Transfiguration'.
In short, Jeus went to pray, Peter, James and John went to sleep, and woke up to see Jesus glowing as He talked with Moses and Elijah.
They woke up in awe and all Peter could say is something like, "It is good for us to be here so we can build something..."(because humans always feel they need to add to what God is doing)
“This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.”(Luke 9:35)
Peter did not need to 'do something'-humans cannot add to the glory of Jesus. We are told in 1 Corinthians 10:31 to glorify God which means to 'bring Him praises'.
The message for us is that when we stop and find the place alone with God to pray-we are in the presence of the same power that was present that day. When we walk this earth with our minds trained on God, we are in the presence of His same power-the same praise-worthy power. God does not change.
Peter learned. He learned that being there meant much more than seeing. Being there means listening, feeling, absorbing, loving...not denying...not helping.
Jesus was not there for Moses and Elijah; they were there for Him.
What does 'being there' mean to us-to you?
Jesus is 'there', today, for us. He is right here. Are we here for Him or do we expect Him to be here for us?
We need to be here-not 'do' here. If God wants us to 'do' something, He will let us know. We do not need to be here for us...we just need to be here for Him. He will always be here for us. Praise does not come from our hands, it comes from our hearts.
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Forgive me for coming to you with selfish thoughts but thank You for meeting me in the middle of my needs. Thank You for always being here.
Praise for You , great God of Love and Mercy!
In the name of Jesus,
Amen
