Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)

I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Verse of the day: Romans 13:6

6 “For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing.”

Today’s reading: Jeremiah 34-36 Hebrews 2

Assurance #1

Security of the Believer-how can we live in the assurance of our salvation in Christ. No other question bothers more believers on and off in our lives.

How can I know I am drinking the Lord’s living water(John 7:38) and not just my own strength?”

How can I know I am taking part in God’s Divine Nature from 2 Peter 1:14?”

How can I know I am having fellowship with God as in 1 John 1:3 or is this just emotion?”

How do I know I belong to Jesus-how do I know I’m saved?”

The Word that God breathes-His word the Bible teaches us how to build our confidence in our salvation in Him-our assurance. This sounds so elementary to many, I know, but the enemy attacks our faith all the time. ‘Basic training’ is where warriors learn how to survive on the way to victory. The first training we look at is the fact that we must:

1. Pursue assurance. Assurance does not come naturally so we must work for it. The Bible tells us to go after it:

Hebrews 6:11–12 (ESV) 11 “And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

As we fight for our assurance we take hold of promises.

In Hebrews 6:14, God’s oath from Genesis 22:17 is repeated where He says two things to Abraham, 1)“I will surely bless you...”2) “I will give you many descendants”

The writer of Hebrews explains:

17 “Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. 18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

We are heirs of the promise, verse 17, and because(verse 18) we “have fled”(fled what? Attacking doubts and fears) to take hold of hope as an anchor-a firm and secure anchor for our souls.

Do you hear the energy behind ‘fleeing’ and “taking hold’? This is steeped in urgency. Everyday we should take hold of this urgency to flee the lies of the world and hold tightly to God’s truth.

High structure workers-no matter how technical the work-never ascend without safety harnesses-this is their urgent reality-their life and death reality.

Believers should never enter the world without taking hold of our encouragement. This is a ‘first of the day’ move for us all for our solid assurance. Yes, it is repetitious work and ‘taking hold’ means holding on and holding on means cultivating continuous Holy Spirit consciousness.

Be honest with God and tell Him exactly where you are and where you want to be with Him.

...because he loves you, He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

Your name is above all names and Your Kingdom is complete. I want to do Your will. Give me today what You know I need. Forgive me for letting my focus drop. Lead me away from evil.

Father of all hope,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
