Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: 2 Peter 1:16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Memory of the Month:Proverbs 15:1-A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Today's reading: ISAIAH 59-61 2 THESSALONIANS 3

All The Answers

I picked up my grandson from kindergarten one day and as we talked, he blurted out, "I know everything". Sure, bud, you know it all. And he may know it all. But having all the answers...? We must have the 'right' answers...

Some people can just look at it and comprehend-whatever 'it' is. There will always be someone somewhere who is smarter than you. So, get over yourself and quit trying to prove you know all the answers.

Now that some of you are good and insulted as well as enraged, step back and get a breath and relax. I had no one in mind as I wrote this. But, for those of us who have all the answers, there is still time to repent.

God is the only one who has all the answers. We are to wait on Him and speak when He gives us the freedom to do so. Until then, there is plenty to do without speaking a word. It is called 'loving'-and God did that first, also. In fact, the Bible says:

19 "We love because he first loved us." 1 John 4:19

If we spend most of our time exhibiting how much we think we know, we miss so many chances to hear the questions of the hurting and broken hearted and so miss chances to hear God speak through us. Unfortunately, there are those who have been trying to prove how much they know for so long that they have trained themselves to never stop talking.

A.W. Tozer wrote: " The saintly souls are forgotten in the whirl of religious activity. The noisy, the self- assertive, the entertaining are sought after and rewarded in every way, with gifts, crowds, offerings and publicity. If he/she should be overlooked in the religious popularity contests he/she will give it but small attention. They know whom they are trying to please and they are willing to let the world think what it will of them."

Are we willing to wait for God to speak through us whatever the case? Can we hold our tongues that long? Can we leave the 'love of our own voices' long enough to let God move and love through us?

There it is-the real miracle-God speaking through us in spite of ourselves. God's loving folks through us-through our imperfection and warts-this is our place in His kingdom.

None of us have all the answers and never will but we know someone who has all the right answers...

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

I am sorry I let my ego run away with my tongue. Teach me to control it so You can speak through me. Humble me.

Precious Lord of tender mercies.

In the name of Jesus Christ,

Amen
