A Worthwhile Fight

Wednesday, January 17, 2025

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...

Verse of the Day: Philippians 2:14-16

14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

Memory verse: Psalm 139:23–24 (ESV)

23  Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24  And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

Today's reading: Genesis 41-42 Matthew 12:1-23

A Worthwhile Fight

For the last nine days we have attempted to look into some of the things that God makes happen when we are diligent in our reading of His Holy Word.

Now we ask  these things:

Do you want your faith deepened and strengthened?

Do you want to be set free by God's word?

Do you really want more and more power in this war with sin?

Do you want the deep sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit?

Do you want to be a more loving person?

Do you want to know what it means to wor k out your salvation with fear and trembling?

Do you want unshakable joy in Christ?

Do you look forward to meeting God everyday?

Do you long to see the glory of Christ in your life for His sake?

If any of these questions gave you pause, you are not alone because we are all still in this world and in this sin war. Your 'old person'(sin living in you, Romans 7:17) does not want any of it and here is the fight that rages within us. Whatever excuse the enemy can find to keep you out of God's Holy Word, he will use. This is why we cannot let down our guard.

We must take up our cross everyday, stay in the word, walk in the Spirit and expect God to continually do His work of conforming us into the image of Christ.

If we put in the work, we can expect God's full life. If we don't put in the work, we can only guess what happens next in this world.

God's desire is to bless you in your obedience.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

How great and mighty You are. Let Your kingdom come in my heart with inner yearn for obedience.Give me Your bread for the battles of this day. Forgive me my reluctance to train my mind. Lead me away from the world.

Ever present power and great God,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
