A Time Of Miracles

Monday, December 9, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...

Verse of the Day: John 15:8

8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.

Memory verse: Psalm 139:23–24 (ESV)

23  Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24  And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

Today's reading:   Hosea 1-4 Revelation 1

A Time Of Miracles

The star of Bethlehem has a supernatural power. I say 'has' because I believe it still is miraculous today.

First, let's look at the the arrival of the Magi and the other miraculous things as recorded in Matthew, chapter two.

> Verses 1 and 2-the Magi arrive and asked where to find the 'newborn king of the Jews'.

> Evidently, the Magi could see the star when Herod and his henchmen could not. The Magi had told them of the star...why did they not see it?

> Verse 12-'They' had been warned in a dream-not one of them but 'they'-all of them warned in a dream to back home a different route.

> Verse 13-An angel appeared to Joseph and told him to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt to safety.

> An angel appeared and told Joseph to take his family home and they went to Nazareth.

There have been many who have 'explained' the star but why couldn't Herod and all his people not see the same star that the Magi saw?

There was another miracle, I think.

2 Corinthians 4:4 ►"The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

Herod and his people were blinded to the 'light', the star, because God had called the Magi-aliens and non Jewish-to see the glory of Jesus as a child and to worship Him.

I don't think that it really matters whether the star can be explained astronomically or not-only the ones God meant to see the star saw the star.

It is the same today. Some are called and some are not. The Magi assumed that at least someone else would know of this new 'King' but they asked directions from the blind.

God calls all people from all directions to Christ but some will not hear because they cannot see the truth. So, our job is to go and tell all because only God knows who will see the light.

Matthew 2:2 (ESV)

2 saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

Those God calls, He calls to worship Christ.

The season of Advent is a call to worship Christ. So, if you have seen His light, worship so the world sees.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

You are the light of the world and the light of Your kingdom. Give me Your bread today to always walk in Your light. Forgive me for walking on my on. Lead me away from darkness.

Shining Light of the ages,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
