Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”

Verse of the Day: Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

A Picture of Worship

(This idea is borrowed)

My wife and I have been married 38 years. So, on our anniversary, I knock on our front door(which I never do)with 38 roses behind my back and my wife answers the door surprised that I knocked and I hand her the roses and she says, “Oh, honey, they’re beautiful, why did you do that?” I answer, “It’s my duty...”(Of course, I would never say that. It is because I think she is ‘all that’ and more. I love my wife more than I ever thought I could love a human being.)

But if I showed up to worship in my private time or at church and God asks, “Why are you here?”, and I answer, “It is my duty,”, He would close the door in my face.

Let's run that scenario back; I knock on the door she opens and I give her the roses and she asks why and I say, “There’s nothing I enjoy more than showing you how happy you make me.” She would never say, “Really? There’s nothing you’d rather do? You are so self-centered. Why don’t you think of me sometimes.”(She would never say that.)

Why would she not say that? I have just said that what makes me happy is seeing her happy. Nothing makes me happier than spending time with her. Why is that not selfish?

She is most glorified in me and by me when I am most satisfied in her.

Why do we worship? Psalm 90:14

“Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.”

The more satisfied we are in God, the more we glorify Him. Our worship is not complete until our joy is expressed in words, songs, hymns, spiritual songs, and in deeds born from His love in us.

It is never selfish for us to want to find joy and satisfaction in our Holy God in Christ Jesus-never. As we seek Him and He unfolds how very massive His power is, our awe of Him increases. But it is impossible to grasp God’s great power without being overcome and consumed by His love. He is, after all, a consuming fire(Hebrews 12:29). It is impossible to be consumed by Him without worshiping Him.

Pray for more and more of Him. Praise from a full heart is then natural.

He will do it.

...because He loves us…

Father in Heaven,

I know so little of how great You are but I want to know as much as I am able to comprehend so that my joy will bring all the praise You are due. Satisfy me today with Your steadfast love.

Forgive me my slothfulness in searching. Lead me away from weak resolve.

Vast and deep God,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
