A Joyful Thing

Father in Heaven, open my heart and mind, Holy Spirit. Fill my consciousness and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: 1 John 1:8–9

8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the 

truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and 

just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all 

unrighteousness.

Verse of the day: Hebrews 10:30-31 We know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people." It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Today’s reading: Isaiah 3-4 Galatians 6

A Joyful Thing

Jesus said, (John 15:11), “I have told you these things so that My joy will be in you and your joy may be full.”

Then our verse of the day says(Hebrews 10:30,31), “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” This speaks to being in sin and under judgment.

How about this, “It is a joyful thing to jump into the hands of our loving God.”

Some can still jump...and God will always catch you.

Psalm 91: “14 “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name.”

15 When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.

16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

It is really hard for some of us so if you are like me and want to jump but have to climb, “It is a joyful thing to climb into the hands of our loving God...it just takes longer.”

What I mean by that is, of course, life is a struggle because of sin-but-(from today’s reading in Galatians 6)

8 “If you plant in the soil of your corrupt nature, you will harvest destruction. But if you plant in the soil of your spiritual nature, you will harvest everlasting life. 9 We can’t allow ourselves to get tired of living the right way. Certainly, each of us will receive everlasting life at the proper time, if we don’t give up. 10 Whenever we have the opportunity, we have to do what is good for everyone, especially for the family of believers.”

To me, ‘getting into God’s hands’ means seeking God and His kingdom with all I have(Matthew 6:33; Matthew 22:37).

So, as we are ‘climbing’ into God’s hands, we must plant in our God-given spiritual nature in doing good for everyone we can-that includes ourselves-and the joy of Christ will be real in our hearts.

Yes, it takes sweat and toil to ‘sow’. But don’t allow it to tire you out-keep climbing.

Tell God that you do not want to get tired and ask Him to keep your spiritual energy up.

...because He loves you, He will do it…

God in Heaven,

Your hold on my soul is certain and never stops. May I live to Your glory as I learn of Your kingdom. Forgive me for stopping and taking ‘breaks’. Lead me away from a complaining attitude.
