A 'Different Light'

Tuesday, September 3, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Isaiah 48:17

17 The Lord, the Savior, the Holy One of Israel, says,

“I am the Lord your God. I teach you for your own good. I lead you in the way you should go."

Memory verse: Psalm 42:2(New American Bible )

"My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I enter and see the face of God?"

Today's reading:  Psalm 143-145 1 Corinthians 14:21-40

A Different Light

There are two ways of seeing things in this life. There is the way of the natural man which is guided by a wicked heart.

Jeremiah 17:9,10--9 "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? 10 I, the LORD, search the heart; I examine the mind..."

The other way of seeing things is in God's light.

Matthew 6:21 "Your heart will be where your treasure is. 22 The only source of light for the body is the eye. If you look at people and want to help them, you will be full of light. 23 But if you look at people in a selfish way, you will be full of darkness. And if the only light you have is really darkness, you have the worst kind of darkness.

24 “You cannot serve two masters at the same time."

There is one choice to make. It is a choice for your heart-your treasure-your eye-a choice for the way you see.

In this life, we see what we want to see. We must continually choose Power that governs our 'wants' and desires. We must reject what we naturally want and obey Christ.

In Luke 9:23, Jesus says we must 'deny self'-deny translates 'reject'. We must reject what we naturally and 'selfishly' want.

We must choose, continually, to see with the eyes of God's Holy Spirit.

This is yet another instance where God will, if we choose to ask Him to, give us the desires of our heart so we can see with His righteous desires.

Psalm 37:4 ►Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

God lets us see in a 'different' light-His light.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Your name is my righteous light. Let me see Your Kingdom path. Forgive me for seeing selfishly. Lead me away from the foul light of the wicked one.

Father of Light,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
