Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)

I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Verse of the day: 1 Timothy 2:1-2

2 “First, I tell you to pray for all people. Ask God for the things people need, and be thankful to him. 2 You should pray for kings and for all who have authority. Pray for the leaders so that we can have quiet and peaceful lives—lives full of worship and respect for God.”

Today’s reading: Jeremiah 40-42 Hebrews 4

Stay

1 John 2:28 (ESV)

28 “And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming.”

Abide means ‘stay’. Nothing fancy about that-stay-stay put. 1 John 2:28 puts it very plainly. Staying in Christ gives us confidence. It shows us who we are and to whom we belong.

Don’t run away-don’t drift-stay awake to the Holy Spirit-don’t ‘go to sleep on the job’.

It is simple to say but hard to do in this world of ‘overdrive’. So how can staying in Christ be done with so much happening so quickly?

Prioritize. Define in your life that which really matters. None of us can be who God intends for us to be if we are all wrapped up in the cares of this world. We cannot care for those who mean the most to us if Christ is not foremost in our minds. He has to be our priority.

Confidence in Him-assurance-security-all come from abiding-staying in Him. Praying without ceasing is a continuous conversation with God. It is knowing that God is apart of every conversation we have with everybody else in this world-all the time.

This consciousness of God brings confidence and the more we practice it, the more confident we become.

Doubts come from the enemy. We cannot give him entrance into our thoughts-our conversations.

Ephesians 4:22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; (25-don’t lie-speak truth26-don’t sin in anger)

27 and do not give the devil a foothold.

Tell God you want to stay in Christ-to keep the enemy out of your mind.

...because He loves you, He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

Great and Holy God-the Lord of heaven’s armies. Your kingdom come in my heart to do Your will as it is in Heaven. Give me what You know I need for today. Forgive me my weak desire for You. Increase my faith and lead me away from evil.

Great Commander,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
