Lead

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:   But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.—James 1:4

Memory verse: Romans 8:32 ►

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Today's reading: GENESIS 13-15 MATTHEW 5:1-26

Lead

There are those who are meant to lead and those and those who are meant to follow-it is a calling. God gifts leaders and followers alike. This is one understanding of the word 'lead'.

"You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink...";this is an old saying to which someone added, "...but you can salt it..."

I spent a lot of time around livestock in my early days and one thing I remember: the salt block was by the watering trough. The stock would lick the salt and drink and drink and lick the block. Simply put, this is God's job for us. We are the salt of the earth.

Matthew 5:13-16 English Standard Version

“You are the salt of the earth...let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

You may not be a born leader; but if you are a born-again believer, you can 'lead' in another way.

You can lead someone to the 'living water' by being the 'salt of the earth' as God's light shows in the way you conduct yourself everyday.

Some are really nervous about this and think they could never be the instrument God uses in seeing someone experience salvation in Christ so let's look at a very simple way.

It has been said that there is one prayer God will always answer:

"Lord Jesus, have mercy on me a sinner".

The scripture says, "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Romans 10:9-10English Standard Version (ESV)

1 John 1:9 ►New International Version

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

"Lord Jesus, have mercy on me, a sinner".

If a person earnestly believes and cries out to God and calls Jesus 'Lord' and confesses they are a sinner, based on what you have just read in scripture, what will God do? God will do what He says He will do.

Romans 10:13 ►New International Version

"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

You may not be a leader in this world but you can lead someone to Jesus.

If you love Jesus-if you want to see people come to salvation in Christ-God will make it happen-trust Him and

"LEAD".

Remember this if nothing else: "Lord Jesus, have mercy on me as a sinner".

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Take my fear and nerves and let the lost around me see Jesus in me so I may lead them to You.

Merciful and loving, Father!!

In Christ Jesus' name

Amen
