‘49-ERS’

In 1849 an estimated 300,000 prospectors went to California to dig for gold. One in 100 became wealthy. They say about half actually found enough to pay for their journey and supplies.

Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Daily Bible reading should be for both depth and breadth. We encourage folks to read the Bible in a year. If you read the daily reading on this page everyday, you will finish in a year. At the same time we encourage deep study. God says it best in:

(Proverbs 2:1–5)”My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. “ 

The ‘49ers’ gave their lives for gold.

Jesus tells us to give our lives for treasure that can never be corrupted or stolen(Matthew 6:19,20)

Read the Bible so much you become familiar with it all. At the same time follow the leading of God’s Spirit to dig deep for the ‘nugget of the day’ because when we seek God as He says in Matthew 6:33, every time we read God will grab our attention with a special word or phrase. Jot it down in your journal. When your daily reading is done, go back and shine that nugget. Hold it up into the light and let God open up His heart for insight for your life.

There is so much more than just the cost of ‘supplies and your journey’. The wealth of eternity is just a ‘dig’ away.

Ask God to make you His kind of prospector.

Father in Heaven,

Make in my heart your name as my treasure. Make Your kingdom shine in my mind. Give me insight into Your wisdom today. Forgive me my feeble energy and build a fire in me for Your word. Lead me away from evil.
