Eagerly Wait
Thursday, November 12, 2020 Good Morning, Lord V.O.D.: And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying "Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: 'You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.'"—Leviticus 19:1-2 M.O.M.: The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.—Romans 13:12 Today's reading: Lamentations 1-2 Hebrews 10:1-18
Eagerly Wait
How do you do that-'eagerly wait'?
I had a friend in the seventies who planned a party for his twenty-first birthday-he was really going to celebrate being of legal age to buy beer. A couple of days before his birthday, the word came down that the legal drinking age had been lowered to eighteen.
I turned eighteen in 1971 and the armed services draft was a nervous concern but I had a high number that year and was not called. Every year there was a day when they had a lottery drawing and drew the birthdays of the year. The last year my number was 17-I was going to Viet Nam. Sure enough, I got my letter and went to my induction physical only to get a letter 2 weeks later that announced the cancelling of the draft. I was not going. The troops were coming home.
In one story, there was a big let-down. In the other, relief. One story had excitement in anticipation and the other trepidation.
Jesus is coming. How does that make you(us) feel? Is there some fear involved? Is there excitement or uncertainty?
The Bible says: "28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him." Hebrews, chapter 9
The fear of the unknown? If you know Jesus, true love casts out fear.(1 John 4:18) Fear in guilt?1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Some look at history and think it is just not going to happen but the Bible says, "...Christ...will appear a second time...". It will happen.
Some are happy here and we are supposed to be-remember..."Love, joy, peace..."? But, nothing lasts forever except eternal life in Christ.
Relax in Christ. Be at peace. Quit worrying about it and look for it. You will see Jesus one day-one way or the other. If you have asked Christ to forgive you and He is your Lord, and you believe God has raised Him from the dead(Romans 10:9-10), the Bible says: " Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:8
As much as He blesses us here, we will be ultimately blessed when we stand in His perfection.
Wait, eagerly.
...because He loves us... Father in Heaven, Again, my eyes are on this world, forgive me. Fill me with eagerness to see You face to face. God of peace and truth! In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen
